Media company Roularta reported that initial indications for the first six months of 2018 were below expectations as advertising had declined by 5% to 10% year on year, depending on the medium.
In magazines, the readers’ market was stable due to a high percentage of subscribers while turnover in the printing business was slightly down on the previous year.
Roularta said the recent acquisition of the Sanoma brands would make an immediate contribution to its EBITDA in the second half of 2018 and the brands Sterck and Landleven, which were acquired in 2017, were performing strongly. Mediafin, too, which became 50% owned by Roularta Media Group in March 2018 and publishes the brands De Tijd and L’Echo, had a strong first six months of the year.
The company also announced a gross interim dividend of €5 per share to be paid following the capital gain from the Medialaan sale was approved by the Board.
