Supermarket group Colruyt reported it had revenue of €9,031 million in the financial year 2017/2018, which on a comparable basis after the sale of the French food service business was 3.4% growth for the year.
The company said market share in Belgium increased to 31.8%, from 31.7% in the previous year, and revenue for Belgium and Luxembourg grew by 2.0%. Revenue of Colruyt in France increased by 9.3% with four new stores opening during the year.
Retail revenue was up in total by 3.1% and accounted for 82.6% of revenue while wholesale revenue, deliveries to independent stores in Belgium and France, increased by 1.4%. Online revenue increased to 5% of the retail revenue.
Operating profit, EBITDA, for the year was €734 million, up 5.3% on a comparable basis, and net profit was €374 million, versus €383 million. Net profit on an adjusted basis was €351 million versus a comparable €348 million.
A gross dividend of €1.22 per share has been proposed.
